How to get more dental patients as an independent practice
New patients search, read reviews, want fees and want to book online. How an independent practice beats the chains on the things that decide the choice.
Short answerNew patients choose on reviews, fees and booking. Publish the fee guide, put online booking on every page, build a page per treatment, and keep reviews flowing. That beats the chains' advertising budget for the searches that matter.
How a new patient chooses
Someone new to the area, or unhappy with their current dentist, searches “dentist near me” or “dentist” plus the town. They open two or three sites. They look for reviews, whether you are taking new patients, roughly what a check-up and a hygiene visit cost, and whether they can book without ringing. The practice that answers all four in the first minute gets the booking.
Publish the fees
Practices hide fees for fear of comparison and lose the patients who would have come. A clear fee guide as a real page, kept current, reassures far more people than it deters, and it ranks for “dentist prices” and “cost of a crown” searches that the chains often ignore.
Treatment pages rank; a services list does not
Implants, Invisalign and aligners, whitening, hygiene, emergency appointments, nervous patients. Each is a search, each wants a page written for the patient: what it involves, what it costs, how long it takes, who does it. This is where an independent practice out-ranks a chain’s generic location page.
Online booking on every page
A link to your booking system, top of every page, on a phone. A large share of new patients will not ring, and the ones searching at 10pm certainly will not. Booking online is the difference between an enquiry and a patient.
Reviews, with replies
Dental reviews carry weight because people are nervous. A steady flow, a reply to each, and a calm reply to the occasional bad one. Ask at the desk after a good appointment with the link on a card, or by text the same day.
The university and the new estates
In Guildford and around the growing towns, thousands of new residents arrive each year with no dentist. A line on the right pages about new patients and the areas you serve puts you in front of them.
A one-month plan
Week one: profile complete with every treatment listed, “accepting new patients” prominent, review requests at the desk. Week two: fee guide page and booking link on every page. Week three: pages for your four most valuable treatments. Week four: team page with real photos and registration details. A practice site from us includes all of it, free demo first.
