Edenbridge: small town, wide patch, almost no competition online
Edenbridge is a small town with a wide rural patch and hardly any businesses set up for local search. How to take it while it is open.
Short answerEdenbridge is a small town with a wide rural patch and hardly any businesses set up for local search. How to take it while it is open.
Why it is open
Search for a trade in Edenbridge and you get directories and a handful of dated sites. Nobody has written a proper page for Hever or Cowden or Marsh Green. The first business that does will rank for them almost immediately.
The catchment
Marsh Green, Hever, Cowden, Chiddingstone, Four Elms, Crockham Hill, Marlpit Hill on the Kent side. Lingfield, Dormansland and Oxted a few minutes into Surrey. Large houses, old roofs, long drives, big gardens.
Two counties, one site
Plenty of Edenbridge businesses work across the border every day. The site should say so, with a page for the Surrey villages as well as the Kent ones, and a Google Business Profile service area that covers both.
What to do
Town page, village pages, profile set up, reviews. Add the pages before a competitor does. In a market this quiet, being first is most of the job.
Searches worth targeting in Edenbridge
These are the kinds of searches a Edenbridge business can realistically rank for within a few months, because they are specific and lightly contested. Each one wants its own page, or its own paragraph on the right page.
- “plumber Marlpit Hill”
- “electrician near me”, typed on a phone in Hever
- “roofer Chiddingstone”
- “landscaper near me”, typed on a phone in Cowden
- “plumber Edenbridge” and “plumber TN8”
The pattern is the same for every trade: the town, the village, and the job, in the words a customer would type. Nobody types “bespoke solutions”. They type “plumber Marlpit Hill”.
A first month for a Edenbridge business
Week one. Claim and tidy the Google Business Profile: the right primary category, every service listed, the service area set to Marlpit Hill, Hever, Chiddingstone, Cowden and the rest of your patch, real photos, correct hours. Ask your last five happy customers for a review, with the direct link.
Week two. A proper Edenbridge page on your site, written about the town, not a paragraph with the name swapped in. Your reviews on it. Your real photos. Phone number and message button at the top.
Week three. Pages for the two or three villages where you already do the most work, for example Marlpit Hill, Hever, Chiddingstone, Cowden. Each written for that place. Set them as the service area on your profile so the two match.
Week four. A post on your profile, two more review requests, and a check in Search Console of what you are already appearing for. Then add the next village.
