Sevenoaks: where a click costs a fortune and ranking is worth more
Paid search around Sevenoaks costs as much as anywhere outside London. Ranking naturally for the town and its villages is worth more here.
Short answerPaid search around Sevenoaks costs as much as anywhere outside London. Ranking naturally for the town and its villages is worth more here.
The cost of a click
Home services adverts around Sevenoaks are among the most expensive in the country. Businesses that rely on Google Ads here pay a lot for every enquiry, and the moment they stop paying the enquiries stop. Ranking naturally costs nothing per click and holds.
Where the gaps are
The county term “Kent” is contested. “Sevenoaks” is contested. Riverhead, Otford, Kemsing, Seal, Weald, Dunton Green, Chipstead, Westerham and Brasted are not. Each is searched by name by people with money and a house that needs work.
What customers here expect
A site that looks established. Real reviews with names and dates. Real photos. A clear list of services and, where the trade allows, a price guide. A slow or thin site loses to a competitor who looks the part, even if the work is worse.
What to do
A page for Sevenoaks and one for each village you cover. Google Business Profile with the right service area and categories. Reviews, one or two a week, replied to. A site that loads in a second on a phone. Then stop paying for clicks you do not need.
Searches worth targeting in Sevenoaks
These are the kinds of searches a Sevenoaks business can realistically rank for within a few months, because they are specific and lightly contested. Each one wants its own page, or its own paragraph on the right page.
- “landscaper Riverhead”
- “roofer near me”, typed on a phone in Dunton Green
- “dentist Chipstead”
- “salon near me”, typed on a phone in Otford
- “landscaper Sevenoaks” and “landscaper TN13”
The pattern is the same for every trade: the town, the village, and the job, in the words a customer would type. Nobody types “bespoke solutions”. They type “landscaper Riverhead”.
A first month for a Sevenoaks business
Week one. Claim and tidy the Google Business Profile: the right primary category, every service listed, the service area set to Riverhead, Dunton Green, Chipstead, Otford and the rest of your patch, real photos, correct hours. Ask your last five happy customers for a review, with the direct link.
Week two. A proper Sevenoaks page on your site, written about the town, not a paragraph with the name swapped in. Your reviews on it. Your real photos. Phone number and message button at the top.
Week three. Pages for the two or three villages where you already do the most work, for example Riverhead, Dunton Green, Chipstead, Otford. Each written for that place. Set them as the service area on your profile so the two match.
Week four. A post on your profile, two more review requests, and a check in Search Console of what you are already appearing for. Then add the next village.
