Why your plumbing website gets no enquiries, and the five fixes
Most plumbers' websites are brochures nobody reads. The reasons are always the same, and none of them are hard to fix.
Short answerPlumbing sites fail for five reasons. One page for everything, no emergency route, Gas Safe hidden, no way to send a photo, and slow on a phone. Fix those and the phone rings.
You paid for a website. It looks fine. It has your logo and a picture of a van. And in the last month it has brought in nothing. Here is why, in the order we usually find it.
1. One page says everything, so it ranks for nothing
Google ranks pages, not businesses. If your whole service list is a paragraph on the home page, you have one page trying to rank for boilers, bathrooms, leaks, drains, landlord certificates and emergencies in every town you cover. It will not rank for any of them.
The fix. A page for each service. Boiler repair. Boiler installation. Bathrooms. Leaks and burst pipes. Landlord gas safety certificates. And a page for each town you cover. Every one written properly, not a paragraph with the word swapped. Ours come with every build.
2. There is no emergency route
“Emergency plumber near me” is the most valuable search in your trade. The person typing it has water on the floor and is going to call the first number they can tap. If your site opens on a slideshow and your number is in the footer, they have called someone else.
The fix. A phone number at the top of every page that is a real tap-to-call link, and a banner for emergencies that makes it obvious you answer. On a phone, a sticky bar at the bottom with Call on it.
3. Gas Safe is buried
For anything with gas, customers check. If your Gas Safe registration is not visible on the first screen, a good share of them leave to find someone who shows it.
The fix. Registration number and logo near the top of every page, not just on the about page.
4. Nobody can send you a photo
People want to show you the problem. A photo of the boiler display, the leak under the sink, the bathroom they want redone. If the only option is a contact form with a message box, half of them do not bother.
The fix. A WhatsApp button. It opens a chat with a message already written, and they can attach photos in a second. You quote from your van.
5. It is slow on a phone
Most plumbing searches happen on a phone, often on a poor signal. A site built on a heavy template, with a hero video and six plugins, takes four or five seconds to appear. That is long enough to lose a lot of people, and Google ranks slow sites lower.
The fix. A site built for phones first, that loads in about a second. This is not a nice-to-have. It is the difference between being found and not.
What a working plumbing site looks like
A page for every service and every town. Phone number at the top, WhatsApp beside it. Gas Safe on show. Real reviews from Google on the page. Real photos of real jobs. Loads instantly. Enquiries to your phone in seconds.
We build exactly that for plumbers and heating engineers, and we build a free demo first so you can see it before you spend anything. There is more on our websites for plumbers page.
