Leatherhead: two markets, one site

Leatherhead has affluent villages on one side and business parks on the other. How to serve both without one site muddling the two.

Short answerLeatherhead has affluent villages on one side and business parks on the other. How to serve both without one site muddling the two.

The residential side

Ashtead, Fetcham, Bookham, Effingham, Oxshott. Large houses, big gardens, owners who expect quality and check reviews. Each village is its own search. “Cleaner Fetcham” and “cleaner Bookham” have different, small sets of results.

The commercial side

The business parks along the bypass and the offices around junction 9 need commercial cleaning, electrical work, fit-outs, catering and more. That is a different search, “office cleaning Leatherhead”, with different competitors and different customers.

Why separate pages

A page that tries to speak to both a Fetcham homeowner and a facilities manager speaks to neither. One page for domestic cleaning, one for office cleaning. One page per village, one page for the commercial side. Each ranks for its own searches.

What to do

Decide which side is your bread and butter and build the pages for that first. Add the other side if it is worth it. Set your Google Business Profile categories to match. Reviews from both kinds of customer, on the page.

Searches worth targeting in Leatherhead

These are the kinds of searches a Leatherhead business can realistically rank for within a few months, because they are specific and lightly contested. Each one wants its own page, or its own paragraph on the right page.

  • “cleaner Ashtead”
  • “electrician near me”, typed on a phone in Fetcham
  • “physio Bookham”
  • “cleaner Leatherhead” and “cleaner KT22”

The pattern is the same for every trade: the town, the village, and the job, in the words a customer would type. Nobody types “bespoke solutions”. They type “cleaner Ashtead”.

A first month for a Leatherhead business

Week one. Claim and tidy the Google Business Profile: the right primary category, every service listed, the service area set to Ashtead, Fetcham, Bookham, Oxshott and the rest of your patch, real photos, correct hours. Ask your last five happy customers for a review, with the direct link.

Week two. A proper Leatherhead page on your site, written about the town, not a paragraph with the name swapped in. Your reviews on it. Your real photos. Phone number and message button at the top.

Week three. Pages for the two or three villages where you already do the most work, for example Ashtead, Fetcham, Bookham, Oxshott. Each written for that place. Set them as the service area on your profile so the two match.

Week four. A post on your profile, two more review requests, and a check in Search Console of what you are already appearing for. Then add the next village.

This is what we do in the build for every client and keep up every month on the care plan, so if you would rather have it done, ask for a free demo.

The same approach works in Dorking, Epsom, Guildford, with different villages and different competition.
